Inquiry Phase 2 - Explore
The second phase of inquiry is called 'Explore.' In this phase, students explore the problem or concept presented during the Engage phase. This can be achieved by having students design and test their assumptions and knowledge with an eye to collect evidence and reason how things work. Virtual Field Trips can be used to allow students to connect with experts in the field in order to acquire content knowledge, or to gain direction about what to learn next. Explore the two sub-pages, 'Communities of Practice' and 'VFT Resources'. Gather ideas about Virtual Field Trips.
Guiding Questions
Questions in the Explore phase guide students in the exploration of the topic at hand. These questions help them to view the subject from multiple perspectives and to gradually move their understanding from contextual representations, to concrete, visual, and on to abstract representations.
